Nine Mornings


By the time this publication of The News newspaper hits the streets today Friday December 16th, hundreds of Vincentians would have already witnessed the first set of Nine Mornings performances.

The unique Vincentian Nine Mornings celebrations began at 4 a.m. this morning and ended at 7 a.m.  Persons should have witnessed performances from New Life Ambassadors, La Gracia Dancers, the Bowmans, Urban X-pressions, Expressions Dance Company and Rhythmix Steel Orchestra.

nine_mornings_picChairperson of the National Nine Mornings Committee, Michael Peters said on Wednesday that persons who miss the first morning can journey down to Heritage Square tomorrow Saturday December 17th where they will be treated to performances by Calypsonian Carlton ‘CP’ Hall, the Arabesque Dancers, Voices of Victory and Agape Performers among others. There are no festivities on Sunday morning but activities continue on Monday December 19th which is being dubbed ‘Diaspora Morning’.

‘Diaspora Morning’ will feature performances from persons residing overseas.  These include Winston Soso and Calypsonian ‘Brigo’.

Various communities throughout the state are also hosting their own Nine Mornings celebrations.  Apart from singing, dancing and skits, persons can also expect different types of races including scooter, bicycle and tricycle races.  There will also be soccer matches, table tennis games, aerobics and numerous other activities aimed at crowd participation.

The Nine Mornings festivities also feature village and home lighting competitions.
