SVG Tourism Authority Partners With An EMMY® Award Nominee
Working with New York-based Spring, O'Brien & Co., Inc., which handles public relations in North America for St. Vincent and the Grenadines, the SVG Tourism Authority kicked off the first quarter of 2010 with a trio of high-profile broadcast projects in the U.S.: “Good Morning America” on ABC Television Network; “Anthony Bourdain: No Reservations” on Travel Channel; and “Travelscope®” on PBS (Public Broadcasting System), with the latter nominated last week for a Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Award in the Outstanding Special Class Series category.
The winners will be announced on June 27, 2010, on the CBS Television Network. “It has been a true delight to work with such a distinguished travel program, focused on introducing our cultural, historical and natural attractions to a large audience of well educated, affluent travelers,” said the Honorable Glen Beache. “Our partnership with Travelscope® came to fruition as a result of our strategic marketing initiatives to effectively increase destination awareness of St. Vincent and the Grenadines in the U.S. market. We’re so very pleased the show is receiving such high praise from industry leaders – and we wish them continued success.”
The 10-day project, January 9-18, 2010, was made possible thanks to invaluable support from stakeholders: SVG Air, Grenadine House, Young Island Resort, Sailor’s Wilderness Tours, Indigo Dive, TMM Yacht Charters, Rubin Ollivierre, and Sargeant’s Model Boat Shop. On-camera interviews with the host and executive producer, Joseph Rosendo, featured: Honorable Glen Beache, Lucille Cozier, Erasto Maxwell Robertson, Sargeant’s Model Shop staff, National Parks staff, and Father Marc Dasilva.
The Travelscope® segment about St. Vincent and the Grenadines is slated to air during summer 2011, and it will highlight: Darkview Falls, Kingstown, Vermont Nature Trails, Black Point Tunnel, Young Island Resort, Tobago Cays, Mayreau, and Big Drum Dance on Union Island.
Travelscope® airs on PSB affiliate stations in 175 markets, encompassing 84 percent of the entire U.S. market, and it reaches approximately 250 million viewers. Travelscope.net boasts clips of the television show, a link to purchase DVDs, and travel tips. Travelscope eMagazine includes feature articles, special offers, and transportation news.
The Daytime Entertainment Emmy® Awards recognize outstanding achievement in all fields of daytime television production and are presented to individuals and programs that broadcast between 2:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. during the 2009 calendar year.
