Taiwan Shares Tourism Experience
Some thirty tourism industry stakeholders attended a ‘Taiwan Experience on Tourism Workshop’, held at the NIS Training Room, April 29.
Among the thirty participants were persons from the Tourism Authority, Taxi Drivers Association, SVG Hotel & Tourism Association and SVG Invest.
Addressing the Workshop, a joint effort between the Taiwan International Cooperation and Development Fund (Taiwan ICDF) and the Ministry of Tourism, Mr. Chin-Yu Lee, Chief of Taiwan Technical Mission, highlighted that tourism has become a ‘non-pollution’ industry in Taiwan and plays a vital role in Taiwan’s economic development.
Hon, Glen Beache, Minister of Tourism, who also addressed the Workshop, was unequivocal in stating that Taiwan’s valuable experience in tourism can impact positively on the development of the tourism industry in SVG.
Minister Beache made special mention of the care that Taiwan takes in maintaining it tourism sites, and counted this as something SVG could do well to copy.

The workshop was organized by Taiwanese Volunteer Henry Lai who has been assigned to the Ministry of Tourism since 2008.
