Nine Mornings holds its own

With all the debate over what constitutes Nine Mornings, the 2009 Nine Mornings Festival was another success, or so many patrons said.

From reports and observations, there seemed to have been an increased number of returning nationals enjoying the Festival, together with an increased number of visitors, from the region and beyond.

The Cycling Union brought out its membership, and the number of bicyclists seemed to increase as the Festival wore on.

A quick canvassing of views among patrons solicited views like:  may be each morning could have a particular focus – a walking race around Kingstown one morning, bicycle stunts another, juggling the football and ‘‘speechifying’.  This, according to support coming from another patron, could mean a lessening of the open air concerts which could have a tendency to be repetitive.

Whatever form or shape it takes, Nine Mornings remains unique to St. Vincent and the Grenadines.

As one returning national said:  “It is ours to grow or to destroy.”
