MediatourismSearchlightawardsSEARCHLIGHT has received the Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture’s 2016 Media Promotion Award. The flagship publication of Interactive Media Limited, SEARCHLIGHT was recognized for its contribution to the tourism sector during the annual tourism cocktail and awards ceremony, which was held last Saturday, November 26 at the French Verandah at Villa.

The Ministry of Tourism, Sports and Culture said that SEARCHLIGHT was recognized for the role it has played in sensitizing and educating its readership on information and news relating to the tourism   industry in St Vincent and the Grenadines. “It is usually the first publication to respond to invitations for coverage of various tourism activities and over the years has consistently produced balanced reports on tourism matters,” said the Ministry last Saturday night.

The award was presented by Minister of Tourism Cecil Mckie to editor of SEARCHLIGHT Clare Keizer. In an interview on Wednesday, Keizer thanked the Ministry of Tourism for the honour and expressed appreciation to her staff for their outstanding work, which she said made the award possible. Keizer included in her commendation freelance reporters Rohan Thomas and Adrian Codougan, whose articles on tourism during 2016 were included among those considered by the Ministry.

SEARCHLIGHT is published in hard copy and as an e-paper twice a week (Tuesdays and Fridays) and 24
hours a day, seven days a week on social media platforms: Facebook, Twitter and Instagram. Over the years, SEARCHLIGHT has won several local and regional media awards, including for health reporting and sports journalism.
